For users connecting to Sage 50 or Sage Instant Accounts (referred to as Sage through-out this page) it is required that Sage be installed on the same PC as the Open Accounting Connector. To connect to the data source the Open Accounting Connector relies on a Sage Driver (ODBC Driver).
Please follow steps below to configure your Sage company to the Open Accounting Connector application.
Click each step below for a pictorial view
When upgrading your Sage 50 you will be required to notify your Open Accounting Connector application of these changes.
Simply open your Open Accounting Connector application via the desktop icon. This will launch the "Extract On Demand" window.
Now please go to "File" > "Configuration" > "Accounting Package" tab.
Here you can modify your Sage data credentials. Click drive and select the suitable driver version.
E.g. "Sage Line 50 v21".
To find out the version of Sage you're running please open your company in Sage and go to "Help" > "About" (see image below).
Now ensure that the same version is selected in the configurations Driver dropdown options.
The Sage Data directory field may require updating if changed. Please see the "Data Directory" field within Sage Help
The Sage Company folder location is usually a "Hidden" folder within the Windows Explorer. To allow "Hidden" folders to be seen please follow the steps below depending on your Operating System. Note to open the Windows Explorer please press the Windows Key + E on your keyboard.
If the Open Accounting Connector application launches an error message detailing "Data Directory doesn't exist" please revisit the Directory field within the configuration panel. The Data Directory should only be entered manually if your company does not appear in the Company dropdown list. To find your company directory please open your company in Sage and go to "Help" > "About". Copy this Data Directory without the "/AccData" at the end (see image below).
If the Open Accounting Connector application launches an error message detailing "Data files are wrong version" please revisit the Driver field within the configuration panel. The Driver should be the same version as your version of Sage. To find out the version of Sage you're running please open your company in Sage and go to "Help" > "About" (see image below). Now ensure that the same version is selected in the configurations Driver dropdown options.
If the Open Accounting Connector prompts the error below, please revisit your user / password credentials. Remember these credentials are to log into Sage.
