This connection is for Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) editions of Exchequer. For the Open Accounting Connector application to connect to your Company Database, some Microsoft SQL Server credentials will be required which may also require internal IT assistance. This connection to Exchequer can be used by MSSQL editions if the Open Accounting Connector application is installed on a PC/Server that Exchequer is not on.

Please follow steps below to configure your Exchequer company to the Open Accounting Connector application.

Now that the application is installed please double click the Open Accounting Connector desktop shortcut. Please click 'Exchequer SQL' only. Please enter a few MSSQL credentials: Server: This is the Server that SQL Server lies on, if there is an instance name please write in form [ServerName]/[InstanceName] Database: This is the Exchequer Database name, by default usually is "EXCHEQUER" Company: This is the company code, please see in Exchequer for this User/Password: This is a user/password for MSSQL and should be mapped to the Company Database. See below in Advanced on how to create a new user. Click 'Test Connection' when the form is complete. The connection would successful if all credentials are correct and will prompt which is incorrect. Now click Finish and Extract to submit your first data load!

If in Step 3 above you cannot find your Company, please open Exchequer and copy the "Path" column for your company and paste into the Open Accounting Connector applications 'Directory' field.

Your Open Accounting Connector application may be setup to retrieve data automatically at a predefined schedule, this functionality relies to be logged on at the scheduled time. Due to the nature of Servers, it may rarely be logged into. So if the Open Accounting Connector application is installed on a Server, extractions may not always perform automatically. To enable this feature a task scheduler would have to be created.
To create a task scheduler please go to the installation path of Open Accounting Connector, usually held in C:\Open Accounting Connector_xxx\ Open the taskSchedule.bat file and follow the instructions.

An MSSQL user can be created dedicated to the Open Accounting Connector application. This user should be created and mapped to the desired database with db_readonly rights as a minimum requirement.

Open Microsoft SQL Management Studio and connect to the Database Engine. Now expand the Security folder in the Object Explore and right-click Logins to create a New Login. Within the General page please create a username with SQL Server Authentication Remove the defaulted Enforced password policy (so the user doesn't expire). Now navigate to the User Mapping page to give the user rights to the database. Tick the database name in the top half panel, and give the user db_readonly rights (as a minimum requirement) in the bottom half panel.

Below are the most frequent SQL Server Connection Errros and how to resolve.

• Unknown Server Hostname:
  
  Please check the SQL Server name and the instance name (if any) in format [ServerName]/[InstanceName]
• Login failed for user:
  
  

  Please check the SQL Server user and password, this user has to be the SQL Server Authentication and not the Windows Authenticated user.

• Cannot open database:
  
  

  Please check the database name, it cannot be found or the user entered has no rights to read from the database.
